Since the last Prefontaine Classic in August 2021, when Richardson ran 11.14 in the 100 meters, she has scarcely raced at all. In the three events since then, she has not broken the 11.14 mark. Eugene Diamond League Schedule and Start Times for Prefontaine Classic 2022
The Prefontaine Classic returns to Eugene this year to serve as a precursor to the summer’s World Championships, which will be held on the West Coast. Birmingham hosted the second round of the 2022 Diamond League last week, and this weekend’s meet will also serve as a Diamond League event.
Throughout the course of the two days, 13 Olympic winners will compete in their respective events at Hayward Field. Elaine Thompson-Herah, the Olympic 100- and 200-meter champion from Jamaica, and Dina Asher-Smith are the two main draws in the women’s 100-meter event, which promises to be a fireworks extravaganza.
Despite Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs being forced to withdraw due to injury, the men’s 100-meter dash is still stacked with stars like Christian Coleman, Trayvon Bromell, Noah Lyles, and Fred Kerley of the United States and Andre De Grasse of Canada.
The Diamond League will be shown live on the Diamond League YouTube page in a number of different countries (territorial restrictions apply). Starting at 6 pm ET (3 pm PT) on Saturday, May 28th, NBC Sports and Peacock will air coverage in the United States.
If you want to know more, look at the listings. Broadcasters in those regions with the necessary rights will air either live coverage or a highlights package. Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah and once-rising star Sha’Carri Richardson will compete against each other in the 100-meter dash at this weekend’s Prefontaine Classic for the first time since last August.
On May 27 and 28, Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon will host the annual Diamond League meet, a prelude to the World Athletics Championships, which will be held there later this summer.
