How Deep is the Olympic Diving Pool in Tokyo?

FINA has issued guidelines for the minimum depth of these pools to protect the safety of all divers.

The pool’s depth is a whopping 5 metres, making it ideal for 10m platform competitions. The pool is 4 metres deep, making it suitable for 3 metre springboard and 5 metre platform competitions.

These are the bare minimum depth requirements set by FINA; individual pools may exceed this.

At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Mexican divers Yahel Castillo Huerta and Juan Manuel Celaya Hernandez will compete in the Men’s Synchronized 3m Springboard final .

There are eight different Olympic competitions. The men compete in both individual and synchronised events on the 3m springboard and the 10m platform.

Divers from the same country attempt to perform identical dives at the same time in this astounding synchronised effort.

Each of the eight events open to women at the Olympics takes place on a different day of competition.
