U.S. Teenager Nevin Harrison Wins First Olympic Womens Canoe 200m
World champion Harrison sprinted out to an early lead and never looked back, cruising to a victory in 45:932.
Laurence Vincent-Lapointe of Canada won the silver medal with a time of 46.786, and Liudmyla Luzan of Ukraine won the bronze with a time of 47.034.

Nevin Harrison Qualified First Overall For the Finals
The 19-year-old sprint canoeist from the United States qualified first overall for the finals in the Sea Forest Waterway. During the preliminary rounds, she ran a personal best of 44.9.38 seconds, which is an Olympic record.
She got off to a great start in lane four and was well ahead of the rest of the pack at the midway point.
U.S.A. canoe sprint gold medalist, Harrison, finished 0.854 seconds ahead of Canada’s Vincent-Lapointe.
“What a beautiful group of girls, amazing girls on that podium with me,” the American said of her fellow medalists. I know I’m blessed.
