Japan’s 10-2 Victory Over the Olympic Hosts China Boosted the Team’s Hopes of Advancing to the Medal Round.

After a scoreless first end, China stole a point and went on to take the lead until Japan dominated the next three ends. Third, fourth, and fifth ends all went in their favour, giving them a 7-1 lead midway through the game.

China managed to pull one back in the sixth end, but a double by the Japanese in the seventh end made the score 9-2 and effectively ended the game. A point snatched by the Japanese in the eighth end sealed the deal, and the hosts gave up.

Against the odds, Canada beat the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), keeping their medal aspirations alive. After their second victory, they climbed to seventh place in the round robin standings.

ROC got on the board in the third after losing the first two ends by scores of 2-0 each. Canada won the fourth end by a score of 2-0 for the third time, but ROC came back to win the fifth end by the same score, making the final score 6-2 going into the intermission.

In the sixth, Canada added to their lead with another 2-0, but the ROC fought back with another 2-0 of their own. However, Canada won 11-5 as ROC conceded the final end of the game after Canada had already won the game in ends eight and nine.
